i try to be a good teacher. everyday.
i try to set the best example that i can for my little lovers. everyday.
i know i don't always.
not every second of everyday, like i wish i could.
i try to tell myself i did it all the right way.
if i only knew then what i know now.
(oh...wouldn't that unlock the secret of parenthood?)
if i were to admit that in hindsight i wish i would have been more involved with playgroups when madi was a baby or that i wish i had made both kids baby food.
and the list goes on, and on...
if i were to admit these things outloud, i would also be admiting my shortcomings,
my weaknesses as a mommy.
i'm okay with this.
because i know i am not perfect.
because i know i am doing a good job.
because that's what we do.
we spend our time thinking about areas in which we fall short.
thinking about the ways we are certainly failing our children.
we care. we worry. we overthink. we doubt.
we survive on 3 hours of sleep in order to ensure that they get a good nights rest.
we cut our 'me time', meaning shower time at this point, in half (or less...)
we make no less than 6 different options for dinner.
hoping that one will satisfy the little miss...and that she will eat SOMETHING!
and then we worry. more.
are they sleeping well enough. eating well enough. playing, learning & interacting enough.
because when you are a mom, nothing ever seems to be enough.
so, today, and i will try everyday, i am going to pat myself on the back and say, 'you rock mommy, don't sweat the small stuff.'
because at least i know i am trying.
and i think i deserve to hear that from my hardest critic.
me.

I love this! Parenthood is the job we do because we love it, we do it for free and we always want to do better. You are a fantastic mom and I hope to be 1/2 the mommy you are one day.
So true! But your kids are happy and healthy and adorable. Nothing else matters. And that picture is beyond words cute! I hope its hagning over your mantle because its you wrapped up in the love for your kids in a way thats unexplainable. Gorgeous!
