not sure the weekend can be topped
i love holiday weekends! this one was made especially long.
every spring, steven and i go up north for a disc golf adventure. this year we went up to san luis obispo...GORGEOUS! we just love it up there, rain and all. the green rolling hills make for the best road trip ever.
we left friday morning after dropping the weens off at my parents...THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH FOR WEEN TENDING!!! (we did miss them a lot!) we got up to SLO just after 3, and just in time for a little drizzle. after chowing on some peanut butter cookies in the hotel lobby, we went off to the first disc course. parked. sat in the rain. we left. we then drove to course #2. got attacked by ducks, seriously, they were reeealllly scary...and then lost a disc in a tree on hole 3. HILARIOUS. and stupid me had no camera. after 45 minutes of chucking pine cones and lead pipes into the tree, steven got his disc back. priceless i tell you. i laughed the whole time! we picked up food on the way back to the hotel and steven passed out...in the middle of the bed...seriously, smack in the middle. it was diffucult to move him. i was not very successful.
saturday. valentine's day. woke up, threw on grungy clothes and went to the other course. hung out with some bums laying on the wet grass and went back to the hotel. hilary went back to sleep, painted her fingernails, smudged her wet fingernails on the sofa, swore several times as they were perfect!, and waited for her frisbee throwing husband to return 4 hours later with a bottle of fingernail polish remover...and a rose...what a doll he is! we watched a movie and then headed downtown. steven contributed to bubble gum alley...nasty nasty, and then we ate at the downtown brewery. after dinner we strolled around town, played in bath and body works, got hot chocolate and headed back to the hotel. hilary tried out her new bubble bath, baths have become a saving grace for this pregnant body. it was nice not to have to wait for the water to heat up...endless hot water....gotta love that!
sunday. the best day ever. steven got up and went to throw. he returned at 10:40 (because hilary asked that he please be back by 11...what...YES, he was 20 minutes early!) off we went to our massage. (i shared my spa gift certificate with my hard working hubby. he has been working so extremely hard, i knew he needed a good knot removing rub down.) so, our 90 minute massages were fricken' awesome. seriously, awesome. the massage girls were commenting on how relaxed i looked. honestly, it was the most comfy i have been in 4 months. incredible. as if that weren't enough to make a pregnant girls day, we had a nice lunch followed by the BEST ice cream and a walk on the pier. perfect. the day was stress free and full of nothing but fun happy conversation, and we ordered room service for dinner! to top it off, we swithced rooms to a spa room. yes...a whirpool spa tub. HEAVEN! hilary took 2 baths in this awesome tub in 10 hours. soaking in a huge tub, where my belly is fully emerged...oh geez. i wish i had one!
steven is such a fun person to go on road trips with. we always talk about old memories and listen to old cds we made from when we first dated. so fun. plus, i had my fill of cow viewing from the car...they are everywhere up there!! gotta love all the roys! and even though i didn't actually get much sleep, being in a bed with 9 pillows was a highlight for sure!
thanks stevie for a wonderful weekend! it was so nice to get away, and i know you needed it so badly right now. i love you so much!! now, it's back to the real world. i will just day dream i am back in that tub :)
