It's coming together!!

when i was in utah with my mom in december we went fabric shopping. and you know how you always find the best stuff when it isn't planned! we found the cutest fabric kit for a quilt. in addition to the kit, i bought extra fabric for a valance, a crib bumper and enough to cover some pillows. my mom was hard at work cutting out all the squares for the quilt...and 4 hrs later she was done! she needed a break from all the tiny squares, so she made the valance next. today we hung it up...and now i want to spend all day in this little baby's room. it's gonna be ADORABLE! what i love most about it...it's not super girly girl pink, it can grow with her and it's totally one of a kind! steven put up new blinds the other day...and with the valance up, the room is already so cute. here is a close up picture of the fabric. i think there are 9 different kinds of fabric in the quilt, this is just one of them. tomorrow we pick up the crib and the changing table. after that...the room will be well on it's way to being finished. all that will be left is a little paint touching up and i have 2 shelves i want to paint to match. after that...i might be sleeping on her floor. since i can't sleep anyway, i might as well be in a cool room!!

i have finished 2 blankets for madison. one was finished well before we knew she was on the way. (one of those things you want to put in a hope chest....so that one day you can pull it out!) luckily we didn't have to wait too long. it is the same fabric i used for my niece's blanket...of course i bought it because i wanted it for me!! the other i finished a few weeks ago. it's a flannel rag blanket, and the best thing to make when your pregnant brain doesn't allow you to focus on something more complicated. it's a fool proof blanket! i have had the pink bandana material for about a year...and yes, i was saving it for myself :)
