some random thoughts

i think sometimes i'd be happier in a more 'simple' world. most of the time i wish i didn't have a cell phone. sometimes i wish we lived in the time of radio, not tv. i'm just not a big fan of all this techy business. * i, we, want our children to not have a ton of stuff. (by stuff i mean shit.) kids have too much crap. and then they don't even know how to use it. don't get me wrong, madi has her fair share of toys...we have very generous friends and family. but, most of the time playing with a measuring spoon, a spatula or mommy's uggs is 100 times more fun that any toy that is meant for a kid. we like the thought of our kids growing up using their imagination. playing outside. exploring. getting dirty. that's how we grew up. we want the same for our children. as long as i can avoid it, hannah montana will not live in my house and madi will not be riding a stationary bike in front of the tv for exercise, thank you very much. *

i miss my grandparents. seeing them once or twice a year and distant phone conversations a couple of times a week is just not cutting it these days. i am happy our children will have their grandparents close by as they grow up. that was all part of our plan :) happy it has worked out thus far.

if i had the money and knew that money would never be an issue, i'd pack up and move us to hanalei bay right this minute so my kids could grow up swimming in the ocean and running naked on the beach everyday. that is my biggest dream. i cannot think of anything better.

who knew that a little girl, now 10 months old, would be my best friend? she helps me through everything, especially the really hard stuff.

some of my favorite conversations lately have been with my grandma. she had 5 kids pretty close in age (even if it was 50 years ago.) it has been fun to hear her stories, share my story, ask questions, voice my concerns, and be reassured that i can handle it. none of my friends have kids closer than 2 years in age, so really, they can't relate to what we are going through. it's been awesome to have some good wisdom on my side. i love her so much!

i love the house we live in. it is such a great family home. perfect size. not too big, not too small. perfect for us and our growing family.

madi got to play with her friend katelyn last night. smoothered her with kisses! almost had a nice makeout session...cutest thing i have ever, ever seen. she really is going to be the most fabulous big sister!
