the difference
between men and women: PACKING TO GO ON A 4 DAY VACATION
man:
takes 2 1/2 minutes to stuff boxers, socks, t-shirts, shorts and 1 pair of jeans into a bag. toiletry bag will be shoved in before we drive the car out of the driveway.
woman:
starts her packing, planning, grocery shopping, snack packing, laundry, list making and stressing 2 weeks before said vacation.
does as much laundry as she can, bribing her husband to fold a load at night while watching junk on tv as she continues to do more laundry and clean her house like a mad woman. (cannot go on vacation with a messy house. not allowed.)
pauses to eat some licorice that was meant for the road trip. haha. yea right.
1 day before vacation she packs clothes for the kid. who's bag ends up being as big as her own with all the changes of clothes you have to take. you just never know. blowouts, weather, whatever.
makes sure she has packed enough diaper, snacks and food to last her kid...probably 3 weeks. again, you never know what you're gonna need!
starts to gather some toys, movies and books, but doesn't want to pack the favorites just yet...we might need them up until the moment we leave...
begins to pack her own bag, but doesn't get too far. a couple of shirts, some socks...she is pregnant, and in the 'yea, i'm pregnant not just fat' stage. so, enough said.
double checks her kids bag. did i pack enough onesies? t-shirts? did i get her hat? did i get her swim suit in there?
wants some more licorice that she made her husband take away from her. only he won't disclose their location. jerk. found the licorice.
did i get my swim suit in the bag? (my summer swim suit will be steven's board shorts and a maternity tankini top. i eat and thoroughly enjoy too many cookies and too much ice cream while pregnant to show off these thighs. )
finishes packing her own bag. (not as simple as that. you all know how it goes. it takes over an hour and a half. cause you're watching tv, eating, blogging, checking email...doing more laundry!)
also, amidst all this craziness and insanity, the kid is bathed (and is in bed.) the hairy kids are bathed, their ears are clean, nails are trimmed and their beds are clean. ready for a stay at the horman hotel. (the dogs that is, not the kid. she's coming with us. sorry grandma and grandpa. she will sleep over. someday.)
so we're set. except the car isn't packed. but that's ok. it will happen 20 minutes before steven gets home. and then we're off.
gotta love the not so slight difference between the man and the woman in this story. it's probably pretty similar to what happens at your house. but really, this is how it works. i can't imagine him doing more. i don't really want him to. i like it. it makes the most sense.
at least he folded the laundry! (ok, and cleaned the hairy kids ears and trimmed their nails. gotta give credit where credit it due.)
gotta love it!

ha ha ha HIlarious and EXACTLY how it works at my house...except Phil starts packing as I'm ready to load the car. But somehow he beats me into the car and even has to repack my poor packing job. This made me laugh outloud. Thanks
That sounds like our packing!! The worst is the unpacking... I feel like it takes a whole 2 weeks in its self. Have fun!!
